No more High Fructose Corn Syrup!

Dustin and I are trying to be a lot healthier in our eating habits.  We are going to try to rid our diets of high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils.  If you’ve ever read the ingredient labels in your pantry, you know that this is going to be hard.  I plan to try making more things from scratch and just avoid processed foods whenever possible.

Tonight, I made brownies from scratch and I have to say, it wasn’t much harder than from a box, and they taste so much better!  (Even homemade brownies aren’t the healthiest thing I know, but we still like treats now and then. 😉 )

    Good for you guys! We’ve been trying to cut that out too, and it definitely is hard. It’s everywhere! I’m looking forward to being home full-time so I can hopefully devote some more time to making things from scratch and getting us on a healthier path. If you like salad dressing, Brianna’s is one of the few brands I’ve found at Cub/Rainbow that doesn’t have high fructose corn syrup, and it’s yummy.

    My google alert for HFCS picked up your post.
    Try for a long list of HFCS-free
    foods. They welcome additions and suggestions.
    Also, European import stores are a good bet. Europe
    prohibits GMO foods which safely limit HFCS. sells soda made with real
    sugar in glass bottles the way it used to be.
